Writing 101 - Those Pesky Titles, or When Bullwinkle Met The Dragon

I read and hear all the time that writing is hard. Once upon a time, it could be. But that's what practice is for. Now I generally find writing easy. Rewriting and editing are a bit more work. The final editing decisions can be tough. But chapter and book titles? For me, those can be real work, so I use placeholders. For instance, when I needed to reference Book III of the Dragon Lord Chronicles at the end of Book II, I had no idea what it would be called until just before publication. The working title was Albanian Internet Kittehs. Because 2016.

Here are the working chapter titles from Book III (Into Otherness). Some of them survived. Some of them did not, hopefully for obvious reasons. But some of those I replaced are personal faves. What do you think? If they don't make sense, you really need to go watch some old Rocky and Bullwinkle episodes. Great cartoons work on all levels, from kid to adults, and Rocky & Bullwinkle does.
